I got back last weekend from my second trip to Guatemala organised through the PC(USA) Mission Presbytery Guatemala Partnership Team (more info here). 10 of us from 4 Central Texas churches spent most of the time at the same church I visited back in 2005 where we helped on a new building project.
After 5 days of bending rebar, building desks for kids, moving cinder blocks and mixing concrete we were all completely exhausted. I’m sure it was hotter this time round! Our final day was, once again, spent in the historic city of Antigua where, this time round, the weather was fabulous and an early morning walk netted some great pictures sans traffic.
It was great to go back and see the people again and our welcome could not have been warmer. The fact that there were 4 of us who had been there before seemed to help out and the fact that I had made an effort to learn a little bit of Spanish made a big difference to me (I can now tell people when I don’t understand them!).
I’ve posted some of my favourite pictures over in my Guatemala set on Flickr but here are a few just to brighten the posting up a bit.
