Nikki and I had a great weekend using a couple of free days in the Radisson Town Lake (thanks to a silent auction purchase at some school fund raiser last year) to spend the weekend in downtown Austin and do a bunch of sightseeing, walking and eating. On Saturday evening, while Nikki was doing some shopping, I headed off to “The Cathedral of Junk” for a SXSW Flickr gathering. This opportunity to meet a bunch of photographers whose work I had admired from afar for some time was great and the location was also really interesting.
The cathedral was built in a South Austin back yard by the home owner, Vince, over a period of 19 years and now comprises a 2 storey high pile of assorted refuse containing many interesting alcoves, passageways and stairs. It’s a truly surreal place but well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.

Safari is now fixed

by on Mar.10, 2008, under Uncategorized

I was in the new Apple store in The Domain shopping center today and, while playing with an iPhone, noticed that I couldn’t load the blog using its version of the Safari browser. When I got home, I downloaded the latest beta of Safari for Windows and noticed the same thing so spent some time debugging this evening and fixed a couple of problems in the home page HTML that didn’t cause any formatting errors on IE or Firefox. As a result, Apple users can now view the blog as it was intended. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by the previous problem (though the fact that no-one pointed it out suggests there can’t have been too many Apple users trying to read the blog in the first place).
