Smokey Smithy
by Dave Wilson on Jan.05, 2009, under Photography
This is another image taken at LBJ Ranch last weekend (the barn in the previous posting is the building in the background). The smithy furnace was not lit when we arrived but, as we were leaving the farmer/guide lit it and we had to stop and take a few shots of the light shining through the smoke.
I wanted to accentuate the light rays so processed this as an almost-monochrome image. The only thing missing is someone standing in the window. The farmer came over and posed for us a few minutes later so perhaps there is the possibility of making this happen via the wonders of Photoshop sometime later?
Barn at the LBJ Ranch

I spent a lovely time yesterday at the LBJ Ranch near Johnson City with 4 other photographers (mother-in-law http://www.flickr.com/photos/mehrirae/]Rae, Jerry Hayes, Sharon Hamilton and Sonja Hamilton). I spent most of the day shooting HDRs in the Sauer=Beckmann Living History Farm – a working 1915-era farm on the grounds of the ranch and this is the first of the images I’ve processed from the shoot.
We also visited Johnson City and took a look around Carol Watson’s gallery before shooting some more pictures in the Feed Mill. No doubt some of these will appear here soon.
