Change is afoot at the White House
by Dave Wilson on Jan.21, 2009, under News Commentary
No, not just the fact that we have a new President and administration. Take a look at the newly redesigned White House web site and you may be very pleasantly surprised to see that they have added a blog to the home page. It’s great to see that the way the Obama campaign used new media to gather and coordinate support appears to be being carried forward into their government style too.
Inauguration Overheads

If you want to get an idea of how busy things were in Washington D.C. yesterday, you could do a lot worse than head over to the GeoEye web site where they have a gallery of half metre resolution images taken by the GeoEye-1 satellite during the inauguration festivities. Make sure to click on the “Back to Gallery” link to see the other pictures.
Cowboy Boots

Flickr’s a funny place. This is another version of a picture I originally posted about 6 months ago (you can see the original here. This version is a slightly different crop and has had a bit of work done in Photoshop to tidy it up for exhibition but it’s pretty darn close to the first one. Why, then, has this had almost as many views in 1 day as the previous version has had in the 6 months it’s been there? On top of that, 8 times as many people have already marked this as a favourite compared to the original.
According to Flickr Scout, this was the 40th most interesting picture on the site yesterday (though not today) so I guess I should be pretty chuffed given that people upload somewhere in the region of 5000 images per minute.
