Another Remarkable Week
by Dave Wilson on Jul.31, 2009, under Photography
Today marks the end of a rather good week on many fronts:
- The photo shown here won the Austin competition in the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk 2009 and now moves on as a finalist in the global competition. I will have about 950 other photos to compete against so I’m not holding out a lot of hope but it feels great to be a winner at this level!
- I was approached by a large Texas magazine publisher about licensing one of my Austin photos for full page use in a large circulation publication. Fingers crossed on this one.
- The nice people at ImageKind listed me as an “amazing artist to follow” this week and featured one of my photos on their home page. ImageKind is a large site offering printing services to a huge number of artists so I feel very honoured to have been highlighted like this in a group of about 10 artists. You can find my site on ImageKind here.
- Nikki had one of her essays listed as a finalist for publication in an upcoming anthology. They accept about 50 and the current shortlist is about 60 long so there’s a high probability that her story will be picked up. She’s had a lot of essays published locally but this is a national, book publication that would look rather good on her resume.
- As if the previous good things were not enough, we also got a couple of inches of rain today!
So lots to be thankful for this week. Hopefully things are going well for you too.
